All standard Condar screen sets and custom fabricated screens are manufactured with ½ inch (1 cm) diameter rings placed approximately 2 inches (5 cm) apart. 3/4 inch (2 cm) and 1 inch (3 cm) rings are available upon request for larger, heavier screens. 3/4 inch rings are recommended for screens installed on the extra wide rod and valance kit.
A rod and valance kit can be shortened to fit a narrow fireplace. The maximum possible length of a rod and valance kit is 62 inches (157 cm).
You may install a rod yourself or find someone else to do it, perhaps a general contractor or chimney sweep. For most screens a 1/4 inch (1 cm) rod is recommended.
A fireplace opening greater than 36 inches (91 cm) high or 40 inches (102 cm) wide will require a custom-fabricated fireplace screen. Our stock screens are 48 inches (122 cm) wide, which does not provide enough draping and overlap for larger fireplaces.
Custom screens take approximately three weeks to fabricate, regardless of size.
